The .XXX registry is legally required to reserve certain names designated by ICANN (Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers), the organization responsible for global internet practices. The registry has also reserved some names as premium domains, which will be sold at auction or with a fixed premium price when the registry sees fit. Any names in these categories are indefinitely ineligible for registration.
