To transfer your domain to a different registrar you must first obtain the domain's authorization (EPP) code and unlock the domain, making it eligible for transfer.
An authorization code (or EPP) is a unique key assigned by the registrar to a domain. It is used to verify domain name transfers between registrars. Essentially it is the "password" for a domain name, and aids in the identification of the domain owner so proper authority can be established during the transfer process.
At Rebel, when you request your authorization code, your domain will also be unlocked for 10 days. To get the code please follow these steps:
Step 1.
Login to your Rebel account and select Domain Manager.
Step 2.
Click directly on your domain name to access the domain editing page.
Step 3.
On the domain editing page, scroll down to the Transfer Domain section and click on the link that reads Send Transfer Authorization Code To Admin Contact.
Note: The authorization code will immediately be sent to the administrative email address listed for the domain. Not any other contact for that domain. Please check that your administrative contact is up to date before sending the authorization code. Please note, we ask that you wait one hour from the point of receiving the authorization code to initiate the transfer at the new registrar. If you are unsure of which email is currently listed as your admin contact please scroll up to the Domain Contacts. If you need to change your administrative email address please reference our article How do I edit my domain contacts? |
Requesting your authorization code will automatically unlock your domain for a duration of ten days. After ten days the code will expire, and the domain lock will be replaced.
Troubleshooting
Problem: The link will not click!
If you have Ownership Protection enabled, you must remove it from your domain to make it transferable. For the steps to remove this, visit our article How do I disable Ownership Protection?
Problem: I started my transfer four days ago and it still hasn't transferred
Most types of domain names can take up to seven days to transfer. If it has been longer please let us know.
