After purchasing your Google Workspace email, you must verify that you own the domain. This is done by adding a TXT record to your domain’s DNS settings.
You will first complete part of the process in the Google Admin Console, then add the verification record in your Rebel domain DNS settings.
Step 1: Get Your Verification Code from Google
Sign in to the Google Admin Console with your administrator account.
Go to Menu → Account → Domains → Manage domains.
Click Verify domain next to the domain you want to verify.
In the setup tool, select your domain host. If Rebel is not listed, choose My domain uses a different host.
In the TXT record section, copy the Value provided.
It will look similar to:google-site-verification=xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxKeep this value copied—you’ll need it in the next step.
Note: If you would like to see the full steps listed from the Google FAQ please visit here: Verify your domain with a TXT record
Step 2: Add the TXT Record in Rebel
To add the verification record, you’ll need to access your domain’s DNS settings in your Rebel account. This is where you can manage DNS records such as TXT, MX, and CNAME records for your domain. From there, you’ll be able to add the TXT record provided by Google. If you’re not sure how to find this section, please refer to our article: How to add a TXT record to your Rebel DNS
Note: Our system should automatically add quotation marks to both ends of the text record you have added here - if the Google Verification is unsuccessful, try manually adding quotation marks at the start and end of the copy pasted from Google.
Step 3: Confirm the Verification in Google
Return to the Google Admin Console where you copied the verification code.
Click Confirm to verify your domain.
If Google detects the TXT record, your domain will be verified, and you can continue setting up Google Workspace.
Step 4. Add Google's MX records to your DNS
Once your domain has been successfully verified, you can continue setting up your email by adding MX records for Google Workspace. These records tell your domain where to deliver incoming email.
First, follow Google’s guide to find the correct MX records for your domain: Set up MX records for Google Workspace
After you’ve located the required MX records, return to your Rebel Advanced DNS settings and add them to your domain. If you’re unsure how to add MX records in Rebel, please refer to our article: What are MX records and how do I edit/add them?
