If you notice that your domain has renewed and been billed before its actual expiry date, don’t worry. That’s completely normal and part of how Rebels auto-renew is designed to protect your domain.
By default, domains at Rebel are set to auto-renew. This means we automatically start the renewal process about 45 days before your domain’s expiry date. Renewing early gives you a buffer of time to resolve any billing issues and ensures your domain stays active without interruption.
Here’s how it works: once the renewal attempt is successful, you’ll receive a confirmation email. If it fails, we’ll notify you and retry the payment every three days, up to four times, before auto-renewal is turned off. This process helps prevent accidental lapses that could take your website offline or risk losing your domain altogether.
If you would like to know the other renewal processes or how to turn off auto-renew, please check out this article:
So if you see a renewal charge appear ahead of time, rest assured — it’s simply your domain being renewed in advance to keep things running smoothly. And if you’d rather handle renewals manually, you can contact our support team to turn auto-renew off.
