What is an app password?
An app password is a special, auto-generated password that you use with email apps instead of your main email password when your account has 2-step verification / multi-factor authentication turned on.
Think of it as a single-use key you give to a specific app or device (like Apple Mail, Outlook, or your phone’s mail app) so it can access your email securely, without needing your main password + code every time.
How to create an app password through webmail:
Step 1.
Log in to your Cloud email webmail by going to mail.rebel.com and inputting your email address and corresponding password.
Step 2.
In the upper right-hand corner, you will see a gear symbol. Please click on that. You will then see the option to see "All settings", click this.
Step 3.
On the left side menu, you will be able to click "Security", which you will be able to scroll down and find "Application passwords". You will be able to select:
- Which application you want to add this password to
- The password name
Step 4.
Once you have added the needed information, you are able to select " + Add new password" and it will be added to your list of application passwords.
