Overview
If you are unable to log into phpMyAdmin or are receiving an "Access Denied" error or wrong credential errors or invalid password, this usually means your database user credentials are out of sync or expired.
Because phpMyAdmin uses your database user credentials (not your main dashboard login), you can easily reset your database user password directly inside your control panel to regain access.
Step-by-Step: How to Reset Your phpMyAdmin / Database Password
You can reset your database user password through your hosting dashboard without needing technical support:
Log in to your main account dashboard.
In the top navigation menu, click on Products, then select Hosting.
Locate your active hosting plan and click the Control Panel button to open your management dashboard.
Navigate to the Databases section.
Under Databases, click on User Management (or Database Users).
Locate the specific database user account that is having trouble logging into phpMyAdmin and click on its name to edit.
Enter a New Password in the designated field, then re-type it to Confirm Password.
Click Save or Apply.
Once saved, open phpMyAdmin again and log in using your database username and the newly updated password.
Important Note: If your website relies on this database (e.g., a WordPress or custom CMS site), updating your database user password will require you to update the password in your site's configuration file (such as
wp-config.php) to prevent database connection errors on your live site.
