Overview
A "Network Error" during a domain search, DNS lookup, or website loading attempt generally indicates that the connection between your device, browser, or ISP and the domain's server could not be established.
This error can stem from temporary browser/device caching, local network issues, or misconfigured nameservers and DNS records.
Self-Service Troubleshooting Steps
Before contacting support, follow these general steps to rule out local device or network issues:
Step 1: Basic Browser & Network Refresh
Clear your web browser's cache and cookies, or attempt the domain search/access in an Incognito / Private Browsing window.
Test the connection on a different network (e.g., switch your smartphone from Wi-Fi to mobile data).
Restart your local router and device to clear stale DNS resolver caches.
Step 2: Flush Local DNS Cache
Windows: Open Command Prompt and run
ipconfig /flushdns.macOS: Open Terminal and run
sudo killall -HUP mDNSResponder.
Step 3: Check Nameservers & Hosting Location
Determine where your domain's hosting and nameservers are managed:
Hosted with Us: Verify in your account dashboard that your domain's nameservers are set correctly to our default hosting nameservers and that your A/CNAME records point to your server IP address.
Hosted Externally: If your web hosting is managed by a third-party host or you use external nameservers (e.g., Cloudflare, Route 53, GoDaddy), you must manage your active DNS records directly with your third-party provider.
When to Contact Support
Depending on where your hosting and nameservers are managed, choose the correct support channel:
Contact External Host / Nameserver Provider: If your domain uses external nameservers or your website hosting is with another provider, please contact your external host's support team to verify that your DNS records and server connections are online.
-
Contact Our Live Support: If your domain hosting and nameservers are managed directly with us and local troubleshooting steps do not resolve the network error, connect with a Live Support Specialist.
Additionally : Your Public IP Address (visit myip.rebel.com or search "what is my IP" in your browser) so our live agents can check if your IP address is being blocked by our firewall filters.
