What is Two-Factor Authentication?
Two-Factor Authentication adds an extra layer of security to your Rebel account.
When activated, Rebel will enable two separate factors in order to allow access to your account, consisting of your password and an authentication code generated by a mobile app like Google Authenticator or Duo Mobile.
This means that, when Two-Factor Authentication is activated on your account, you need both your password and your smartphone in order to gain access.
Does Rebel offer Two-Factor Authentication?
Yes! Rebel supports the ability for you to activate this extra layer of security on your account. Please note that you will need a smartphone in order to activate Two-Factor Authentication.
Two-Factor Authentication is currently in a beta phase. This means that you need to contact our Customer Service team in order to request that your account be modified to accommodate Two-Factor Authentication.
To activate Two-Factor Authentication, sign in to your account in the top-right corner of the screen and select “My Account” from the dropdown menu. From there, select the "Security Settings" page - here you will find the option to activate Two-Factor Authentication.
You'll also be given a Recovery Code - write this down for safekeeping. In the event that you lose your phone, you would no longer be able to access your account as you would no longer have the ability to receive your authentication code. This is where your Recovery Code comes in - it will grant you one-time access to your Rebel account so you can reset Two-Factor Authentication using your new phone.
I lost my phone so I can no longer access my Two-Factor Authentication code. What do I do?
You will need the Recovery Code you saved when you first set up Two-Factor Authentication.
To use the Recovery Code, select the option "I don't have my phone and want to use my Recovery Code" when you try to log in to your account. By selecting this option, you will be taken to a screen that will allow you to enter your Recovery Code and regain one-time access to your Rebel account.
Once you've used your Recovery Code it will not be valid again, so make sure you use your one-time login to reset your Two-Factor Authentication settings for your new device.
Don't have your Recovery Code? In order to gain access to your account, you'll need to call in to our 24/7 Customer Support team so they can verify your identity. Due to the elevated security associated with Two-Factor Verification, we're unable to help you regain access to your account via email or chat.
